MCL Test Fence Site 12

Hidden in South Gloucester, Ottawa, this gallery explores the decaying remains of a 1953 Cold War radar testing outpost. Built as a proof-of-concept for the “McGill Fence” early-warning system, this site quietly trialed Doppler technology to detect Soviet aircraft before the mainline was built across the Canadian north.

Abandoned by the mid-1960s, it is now a haunting playground of rusted lattice towers, hollowed concrete bunkers, and vibrant modern graffiti. These frames capture the stark collision between forgotten military history and decades of urban decay.
